Cake Poll: Baking Vs. Eating Preferences

Cake Poll Time!
It's July, and high time for a sweet giveaway! This time, Carolyn's Kitchen, a very cool company which designs retro-inspired aprons and kitchen accessories, has kindly donated one of their fashionable aqua cupcake aprons (retail value $42!) for the giveaway. I hope I don't need to tell you that this is a totally awesome prize.

How do you put your name in the running? It's easy. Just satisfy my curiosity about sweet preferences. Is what you like to bake the same as what you like to eat? Or are they different? Just answer the following in the comments section below and you'll be entered in the running!

*Please note this giveaway is only open to US Residents. The Cake Poll will close on Monday, July 6 at 12 p.m. PST, and the winner will be contacted for their size/address/info shortly thereafter. If you'd like to shop at Carolyn's Kitchen in the meantime, click here!

I love to make a Black Forest Torte, but my favorite going out dessert is Baccone Dolche from Papa Hayden's in Portland. Who can resist swiss meringue, fresh cream, whatever local berries are in season, and sliced bananas in a puddle of chocolate.
Not me, that's who.

I love to bake almost anything - pies, tarts, cakes and cupcakes. I'll eat it all as well; there must be quality control before it goes out to the masses! It is always gratifying to see the pleased faces of co-workers, families and friends when a recipe really takes the cake. ;)

I really enjoy making cookies and decorating them...any shaped cookie is a fun thing for me. I LOVE to eat cake and pastries...

Mostly I like to bake bread, cupcakes and cookies, and the occasional cake. As far as eating goes, I enjoy some freshly baked cookies, and definitely a slice of warm baked bread. YUM! But, most of the time, I bake for other people and give the majority of it away to friends, family and neighbors.

oooh, how fun! Well, I have food allergies to doing either is tough, but my favorite thing to bake is gluten free brownie bites and to eat are chocolate chip cookies!!

Oh, I would never bake something I wouldn't also love to eat. While I enjoy the act of baking, the end result is what really motivates me! My regular rotation of baked goods includes cookies, brownies, pies, cupcakes, bread...

For years I baked what I liked to eat, but that has changed with my need for waist management. I love to make cupcakes, layer cakes, any kind of cake., but now I tend to make cakes that I do NOT like to eat, but that are closer to my husband's preferences so I am not tempted to eat my own creations.

For example, I would vastly prefer a German chocolate type cake and icing combination, which is not his favorite. Now I tend to make banana cakes with fresh vanilla butter cream icing..not my favorite which means it can sit on the counter and I can safely walk past it without attacking !

To make: cheesecake. I learned early on that it's not as hard to make as most people think, and have been experimenting with different flavor combination for years now. Mmm, mmm good.

And to eat... maybe a great ice cream sandwich -- freshly made, of course. But really, anything new and exciting. I love trying new baked goods. :)

Wow, that apron is adorable! My favorite baked goods to make are usually cookies or sweet breads (banana, e.g.). And yes, I definitely love to eat everything I bake! But probably my favorite baked good to eat is anything rich and chocolaty and decadent that I don't the time, talent, or ingredients to make at home.

My favorite baked goods to make have to be cupcakes! Though coming in at a close second are decorated cut-out sugar cookies. They only come in second because of the amount of time/work involved...they're for special occasions (i.e., new baby) or holidays only in my house! Cupcakes? I could make those every day!
Favorite to eat? Cupcakes, hands down. With pink icing and sprinkles too, please.

To EAT: I like peanut butter cookies

I love to make pies, tortes and cupcakes.

On the other hand, I love to eat it all. Seriously. I'm on a chocolate kick right now (who isn't, really?) but I love it all. I'm craving a cranberry cottage pie that I saw in a past cooking mag.

I love to make cupcakes, they are my very favorite, and anything with cake. As far as eating, I'd much rather eat something like eclairs, cream puffs and such pastries..love the custard stuff.

I love to bake cupcakes and cakes. I love to eat them also.

However, my favorite thing to eat that is baked are pies, but I don't make them.

We are a military family and have been overseas quite a while. I love to find local items and learn to bake with them. While in Okinawa, I learned to love Beni Imo, it's a beautiful bright purple sweet potato and very treasured as it once saved the small island from famine due to typhoons wiping out top soil crops. I learned to make a filling for my cakes, and my family favorite is Beni Imo muffins. To my surprise they turn from this gorgeous purple to a bright emerald green once baked due to the eggs. My family and I will always have our fond memories of Okinawa and the Beni Imo. My favorite baked good to eat is a pumpkin empanada. It's on my list whenever get get back home to Texas. :) Diana K.

My favorite baked good to make is chocolate tiramisu bread pudding! It is so much fun to make and even more fun to eat! My favorite baked good to eat is a toss-up between the tiramisu bread pudding and red velvet cake! I am hungry just thinking about it!
