The Secret Lives of Cupcakes

Um. What.

What do cupcakes do after the bakery closes? This is a question I think about a lot. I like to imagine them as little elves, getting to the real work of misbehaving and making magic after hours. And after I received this wonderful batch of cupcakes decorated to look like my Cuppie character at the CakeSpy Official Book Launch Party, made by New York Cupcakes and wearing wrappers by Bella Cupcake Couture, I had a chance to see for myself. Here's what they did:

This little cupcake took a ride on a pug...

Cupcake riding a pug!

This little cupcake helped me bake...

Cupcake helped me make frosting

This little cupcake considered cannibalism...

These look great!

These little cupcakes like Bakerella...

I just love Cake Pops!

This little cupcake didn't even know it was being hunted...

Pugs want cupcakes

This little cupcake dreamed of unicorns...

Cupcakes dream of unicorns

This little cupcake enjoyed the harvest...

Mellowcreme pumpkins surrounding cupcake

These little cupcakes hung out with some hotties...

This little cupcake made a big mess...

This little cupcake didn't fear death...

Naughty cupcake!

But perhaps he ought to have.

Goodnight, sweet cupcake

...the end.

AAAAH!

My mom makes these adorable snowman cookies and they are almost too cute to eat. I did see a photo of a cupcake that has a fondant Squirt (the little turtle from Finding Nemo) on top of it. They were so adorable and he is my favorite character. I do believe those were too cute to be eaten.

unfortunately no, instead of going to waste, they always go to the waist :)

No because no matter how cute something is I'll eat because it will eventually rot lol

I initially thought this was an absurd question because who would ever pass on a dessert but then I remembered that I did keep a cute little penguin pastry my husband had made for me when he proposed. It's still in the freezer looking almost as adorable as ever.

My sweet tooth always wins, always will take pics before taking a bite though : )

Nope. Everytime I see a gorgeous treat, my curiosity about how it tastes overcomes it's cuteness.

i really think it's the sweets that have the problem. i'm just so cute they can't help but jump into my mouth!

The only treat that hasn't fallen prey to my sweet tooth is a sugar egg that my aunt made for me when I was 10 years old or so. It had a picture window in it and she had filled it with little hummingbird eggs and a decal of a bunny rabbit. Then she piped pretty decorations all over the outside of the sugar egg.

Don't get me wrong, I WOULD have eaten it, but my mother said I couldn't and then she started keeping it in the deep freeze. After that it smelled horribly of freezer burn. She still hauls it out at Easter and displays it, 40+ years later!

I've had a couple of marzipan animals that were almost too cute to eat, but in the end, their almondy goodness was their downfall.

Nope! I will eat all the yummy cute sweets and will usually take a picture if extra cute. :)

Roundaboutly - it's a family tradition to make Santa-shaped cookies, complete with coconut beards and red-hot noses, and I always hate eating them because they're so cute! I managed to resist one for a week, but then I gave into the siren song coming from the freezer and devoured it. :)

Yes, I have once it was a a rock candy that looked like purple diamonds and then another one was these candies my friend made of bacon and eggs made out of white chocolate yellow m&m's and pretzel sticks all were too cute to eat. But my brother ended up eating them BOTH!!!

No sweet treat is too cute to eat! :)
October 22 | Unregistered CommenterMadison Swab
Sadly no. Hopefully I am able to take a picture of the dessert before my willpower disappears :) Thank you for such a great giveaway!!

My girlfriends and I made "monster cupcakes" for Halloween that were supposed to be for her students, but we ended up moments away from eating them.. but alas; they were TOO ADORABLE! Who knew that monsters could be precious/delicious?

Well, sometimes I have to wait a while before I can bear to eat something beautiful. I like to take in its gorgeousness and savour it before digging in! But there has never been a treat so darn cute that I literally cannot bring myself to eat it sooner or later :)

I might admire something for a day or two, but in the end, it always gets eaten. The cutest sweets (besides yours) are the chocolate mice and penguins from LA Burdick Chocolates in NH.

Nope, never. I can always eat treats, cute or not! I will gaze at them adoringly a bit longer if they are cute, though~

My own gluttony trumps adorableness. Eventually, after admiring a treat or cooing over it, I shove it into my mouth with almost no remorse.
October 23 | Unregistered CommenterLAmonkeygirl
Honestly, no I have not. However I have found candles that look so much like an adorable cupcake that I could not burn it.
October 24 | Unregistered CommenterErin
I've definitely taken a second look...but desserts are meant to be eaten! Even if it's a gorgeous cake or an adorable cookie. =)

have you ever encountered a sweet treat that was so cute that you couldn't eat it?... I have felt bad about it but always eat my sweet treats. I had a scrumptious yet adorable peanut butter and chocolate penguin in Cleveland Ohio and though I felt bad, it was yummy.

The top of my cousin's baby shower cake. I created this owl-themed caricature cake and the top layer, which resembled the leafy top of a tree, was just covered in green, orange, and brown "leaves". It was way too cute to cut, so I sent it home with her...!

Never! I have a problem!
October 24 | Unregistered CommenterJessica
I've considered it.... but it always gets eaten, haha!

Only once... A Hello Kitty marshmallow on a stick. I stuck it in my potted plants as decor.
