Sweet Giveaway: Matryoshka M-Cups Giveaway!
Monday, August 30, 2010
Things that are sad: CakeSpy's birthday week is over. And (bad spy) the giveaway schedule had a slight hitch: friday's giveaway never went up! Yikes (must have been too busy eating Birthday Cake French Toast!).
Things that are glad: There's a final giveaway to cap the week and say thank you for the totally sweet memories.
That's right: here's another giveaway, this time for the lovely and amazing M-Cups by super-creative company FRED! Here's a description:
This set of 6 dry-measure cups nests neatly just like traditional Russian matryoshkas. They accurately measure 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 2/3, 3/4 and 1 full cup, and they’re built from heavy-duty, food-safe, long-life engineering plastics. M-Cups are useful, easy to store, and quite charming...so why not doll up YOUR kitchen with a little Russian folklore? Each set is packaged in a full-color printed giftbox.
They're a popular seller at CakeSpy Shop, and now you can win a set for free! How? Simply answer the following pressing cake question below. US and Canadian entrants only this time, please! The giveaway will close next Tuesday, September 7, at 12pm PST. Good luck!
Here's the question:
What is your least favorite dessert, and why?
Cakespy
Update: The winner!
We have a winner, friends! It's Andrea, who has a least favorite dessert which may prove controversial:
I'm not a huge fan of chocolate chip cookies. I'd rather eat the chocolate chips straight out of the bag or have the cookie minus the chips.
Well, she can just bake something else with these totally sweet cups, I guess! Congratulations!

Least favourite? Easy... anything Jell-O related (with the exception of pudding!) and the reason is simple - there's no chocolate!
Anything with bananas. The taste, the texture....disgusting. And I agree with the rice pudding people. That's just nasty.
Macarons. Beautiful, but wayy too sweet. And I've tasted the best!
Bread pudding. I know, I know. I just can't get over the texture. Flan for the same reason.
funnel cake, last time I ate it I got sick :p
Jell-O. It is slimy and artificial and neon and made from the skin & bones of animals.
Love Bill Cosby, though.
Jordan almonds. They always sound like such a great idea, but end up being a pretty tough nut to crack.
tapioca pudding. It's definitely a texture thing.
I rarely dislike desserts, but anything with coconut or almond extract/paste just doesn't work for me, unfortunately.
Chocolate lava cake...why is it on every dessert menu?
The cake at my brother & sister-in-law's wedding was a chocolate cake infused with lavender. I bet that chocolate cake would have been amazing on its own.
Those fruit tarts that have a layer of custard at the bottom. The worst combination of too dry pastry, slimy custard, and not enough fruit. It all falls apart when you try to eat it and manages to be both cloyingly savory and too sugary at the same time.
A lot of the previous answers resonate with me -- cheesecake (too heavy, worst of both the "cheese" and "cake" worlds), cherry pie (red-dye-flavored and artificial at worst, soggy and bleh at best), flan (the fact of its name being so similar to "phlegm" should be a tip-off), cream puffs (so pretty, so frequently cardboardy and disappointing).
But I think my least faves, based particularly on how overhyped they are, would be sweet potato pie and pecan pie. The former is an overly-vegetal tasting starchbomb and a poor cousin to pumpkin; the latter is so sickly sweet most times it makes my teeth hurt (as do the pecan bits that get stuck between them).
Not that I have really strong opinions about these things, as you can see.
Tapioca pudding. Yuck, yuck, yuck!
i'd have to say flan. definitely a texture thing for me!
Least favorite? Fruit pizza/tart/whatever you want to call it.
Cassata Cake. Let's look at the evidence:
A.Always yellow cake, never chocolate. Strike one.
B. It is filled with layers of gloopy, nasty custard that is not only gross on its own, it makes the cake soggy.
C. On top of the custard you have strawberries. Number three rule of fight club - NO FRUIT IN DESSERT.
D. They frost this monstrosity with "lightly sweetened whipped cream". ::blank stare:: Throw me a bone here. At least put some buttercream on this 'dessert' and let it have something going for it.
For whatever reason, people in Cleveland go bonkers over this hot mess. So many weddings ruined. Ruined I say!
Hmm... tough one... who doesn't love every kind of dessert?? I'd have to say cookies. With all the wonderful dessert options out there, cookies seem to be the least exciting for me. When I'm indulging, I want to go all out and try something new and delicious!
Licorice. I don't know why but I hate anise or anything that even vaguely tastes like it. As for those cups, i've been trying to get a set since last christmas, they've been sold out everywhere! How cute are they?
I'm going to go with donuts. There's just something about them that's... unsatisfying.
I really have a sweet tooth and like most things so I will have to answer that whatever is the last desert that I put a lot of time and effort into that didn't turn out and is inedible. I hate that. So much anticipation to be completely let down. So currently an experimental fudge flavor I'm working on.
Wow, that is tough. Probably anything with a fruit besides apples.
Boston cream pie. So strange!
I'm having a really hard time thinking of a dessert I have consumed I didn't like/love. I'm not too fond of marzipan, so I will go with that.
No question...pie. Maybe I have never had a good one but I HATE the crust! I will, however, eat the filling!
