Brownie Points: a Simply Divine Brownies Giveaway!

Brownies are a masterpiece of American cookery. This is not opinion--it's fact. They are--to sum it up concisely--a simply divine treat.

Oh--what a perfect time to introduce the treasure of Portland, Maine--Simply Divine Brownies. They boast a retail bake shop, and will ship their brownies nationwide.

And oh, the brownies. At Casa de CakeSpy, we'd been mildly obsessed with these brownies since having discovered the adorable brownies that look like cupcakes, with the other items on the menu--like dense, chewy brownies in a plethora of flavors and sizes--just adding to the obsession.

And now, dear, lucky readers, you too can share this sweet joy.

Yup: Simply Divine has kindly offered a brownie care package for giveaway on this site.

What can you win? A parcel of pure pleasure, including a sampler of 12 assorted brownie flavors, a package of sweet brownie bites (perfect for smaller appetites, or, you know, eating 3 at a time), and one of those adorable aforementioned trompe l'oeil brownies. Not for nothin', but based on my calculations this is a parcel worth over $75, considering shipping and stuff.

Yeah, you wanna win this.

So how do you enter? It's easy. Just answer the following important brownie questions below in the comments section and you'll be entered to win this sweet package of postal bliss! Of course, if you couldn't possibly wait for brownie bliss, you can mos' def check them out online here and check out their blog here!

Fine Print: The giveaway will close on Sunday, February 22 at 12pm PST; the winner will be announced within the next 48 hours. Entrants in the US only, please. Good luck!

  1. What's your type of brownie: chewy, cakey, or fudgy?
  2. Frosting on brownies: yes or no?
  3. Which brownies in the pan do you covet most: edge or middle?

UPDATE: THE WINNER!

We have a winner, friends! It is Pruittiporn from New Haven, CT, who has this to say about the above brownie poll:

1. I oscillate between fudgy and chewy.

2. No - I prefer my brownie add-ons baked in!

3. I prefer edge, but I'm not opposed to the middle either

Reader Comments (414)

1- Chewy!
2- no frosting- if they're chewy- they don't need it :-)
3- I am a middle girl all the way!

1. Fudgy Brownies are my favorite!
2. I usually don't prefer icing but if it is used the right way it can make the best brownies even more delightful!
3. I love the peices that are on the edge but not the corners so you get the perfect combinition of edge and middle!

CHEWY, with FROSTING, from the EDGE of the pan. (but really, edge or middle, they're brownies-- it's all good!!)

February 16 | Unregistered CommenterBonnie

1) Fudgy
2) a drizzle of frosting just for design
3) from the center

February 16 | Unregistered Commentercuppycake

1. I like chewy chewy brownies!
2. I'll take the frosting, if it isn't too sugary OR if it disguises an imperfect brownie.
3. My favorite is the edge--and actually the corners! I like 'em kinda dry.

My brother-in-law only makes brownies in a round pan. This is the cause of much debate. He says that the round pan is the brownie pan, because that is what his mother used. After quizzing his family, it was established that the round pan was used because it was the first pulled out. He still only makes brownies in a round pan. How are they cut, you ask? Not like a pie, which is how I would cut anything in a round pan. They are cut into "squares" that are completely uneven and - rounded! - This is, alas, my only somewhat relevant brownie story.
In addition, this is probably the only forum for me to tell that story. I hope I win this delicious prize.

February 16 | Unregistered CommenterTracey

1. chewy like chewbacca
2. no frosting. au naturale please.
3. i love middle brownies! but when it comes down to it, any brownie is a good one.

February 16 | Unregistered Commenterbridge

What's your type of brownie: chewy, cakey, or fudgy?
I positively adore brownies that have a little chewiness on the edges, a cakey texture in the middle, with little fudge bits all throughout. Although I am in love with frosting, it's often too much on a brownie, as the charm of the brownie is the fluffy yet crisp top. I am the largest fan of the middle pieces, as I like my brownies still ooey gooey!

February 16 | Unregistered CommenterChelly

1. I definitely like fudgey the best.
2. No frosting please, unless sometimes a peanut butter frosting or a "turtle" type of frosting, depending on what kind of mood I am in.
3. I definitely like the edge, unless the brownies are burnt.

Of course the best way to eat a brownie is topped with chocolate ship mint ice cream, hot fudge syrup, whipped cream and a cherry on top!
