Sweet Thanks: How to Not Let Graffiti Ruin Your Day

I know that I might not have the best reputation among pie lovers.

But really, was this necessary? When I came to my shop today after walking 2 miles in the icy snow, there was an extremely mean anti-cake message graffiti'd on my front window.

I mean, I call my shop CakeSpy, but the store is really dedicated to seeking sweetness in everyday life--by way of presenting totally sweet products, often cake and pastry-themed.

I don't think there's a lot to dislike about this. But apparently someone did. And they had really, really bad handwriting. I mean, if you're going to tag, at least make it a cool one!

But you know what? I wasn't about to let this ruin my day.

...and with a quick few snips of my scissors, I changed this message to one of sweetness.

And I even put out cookies. And if the tagger wants to come and take one, I say go for it. I won't say I don't kind of hope you choke on it, but hey.

Happy Thanksgiving, even to the tagger with terrible handwriting.

Ugly, hateful people are jealous of sweet, happy people. That is the reason for bad graffiti, wars and perez hilton. Let's all just get along. You did the best thing possible... offering your hand with a cookie in it :)

Very sweet! YOUR message and cookies, that is! Hope the tagger knows that karma is a real B sometimes... :)
Good work Jessie :-)

So sorry this happened to you. I can only hope that I would handle it with such grace. As my friend used to say...Kill them with Kindness!

What an awful thing to find at your shop this morning. You really handled this situation very well and turned something ugly into something beautiful again!
That is really mean and not in keeping with the holiday spirit. Your shop is amazing! And we all love you!

Oh that's awful! Someone clearly had too many schnapps during Snowpocalypse. Way to show 'em - but I still wish they would come apologize.

Hi, I just stumbled upon your website while surfing the web. I must say I love your website and cute illustrations! I also love cupcakes which was what drawn me to your website in the first place. I read this post, and my heart goes out to you! How mean of that person to write such a rude thing about such an innocent, pleasurable thing such as cake. I want to give you props for handling the situation in such a positive and matured manner, there should be more people in the world like you so that the world will be a happier place :).

Ooo! What a terrible thing to do to such a sweet person. I'm glad you have such a great attitude to turn a positive spin on that. Koodoos to you and cake!

I am with you on so many levels but especially the UGLY part. It is somehow so much worse when it doesn't even have any artistic value D:

Oh, that stinks! But awesome that you were able to change it for the better, and even shared it with all of us! Happy Thanksgiving, Cakespy!

Oh no! It always amazes me what people with nothing better to do get up to. Sorry to hear that your shop was marked by untalented vandals. At least if you came and found an incredible (but annoying) mural on your window of something delicious you could at the very least respect them for their skill, but this looks the work of half a second of thought and practice.

Incredible; some people have NO class. Good for you for taking the high road. Happy Thanksgiving to you.

This reminds me of when someone wrote "Bitch" on the front door of a house I used to live in. We never did figure out if it was personal, and if so, which housemate it was directed towards, but until we could wash it off, we just added on a couple letters to change it to "Bitchin!"

Love your positivity!

I don't get this, I can't fathom who would want to be mean about Cake! But the way you handled it makes me like you even more!
