Cake Poll: Love and Chocolate!

Win it: Cake poll!
How time flies! It's been a while since our last Cake Poll, so we're making up for it by offering a very sweet treat: an original (not a print!) Cakespy watercolor! The watercolor (shown top) will come in a 4x5 inch frame and will go to just one lucky winner. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment with your responses to the below poll, centered around the star of all February sweetness: chocolate! Here goes:

  1. Chocolates for Valentine's Day: cute or cliché?
  2. The chocolate box: which flavor would you rather leave for others?
  3. Milk chocolate: amateur hour or respectable citizen?
  4. Chocolate in savory foods (mole sauce, etc): awesome, or awful?
  5. Hot chocolate: with or without marshmallows?
  6. Chocolate-flavored or scented body products: ooh, or eww?
  7. What's your favorite chocolate dessert?
The poll is open for anyone (US and international!) to enter; the deadline is 12 p.m. PST on Saturday, February 14. The winner will be announced shortly after!

2. The chocolate box: I'd leave those little solid chocolate bars.

1. Chocolates for Valentine's Day: cute or cliché?

I'm not sure if there's a time when receiving chocolate isn't cute.

2. The chocolate box: which flavor would you rather leave for others?

Coconut fill. It's the stuff of nightmares, I'm telling you.

3. Milk chocolate: amateur hour or respectable citizen?

Depends on the recipe, but generally respectable.

4. Chocolate in savory foods (mole sauce, etc): awesome, or awful?

Awesome.

5. Hot chocolate: with or without marshmallows?

With, but it's better with peppermint

6. Chocolate-flavored or scented body products: ooh, or eww?

Ew. Unless you want to smell like a six year old.

7. What's your favorite chocolate dessert?

My grandmother's fudge, which I cannot recreate... She had a secret technique, I think.

February 12 | Unregistered CommenterKate Moon

1. Chocolates for Valentine's Day: Cliche unless they are really good, fresh, hand dipped ones. And even then a little goes a long way. No one wants an entire pound of chocolates.

2. The chocolate box: which flavor would you rather leave for others? I'm not a fan of ones that are all chocolate so I'd leave the chocolate truffles for someone else.

3. Milk chocolate: ew. Amateur hour.

4. Chocolate in savory foods (mole sauce, etc): awesome, or awful? Yes, please. I love me some good mole.

5. Hot chocolate: with or without marshmallows? It depends. If the marshmallows are homemade then definintely with. If not well, that's a different story.

6. Chocolate-flavored or scented body products: Ew for me because my husband is allergic to chocolate and doesn't really even like the smell. I'd prefer to smell like something he finds attractive.

7. What's your favorite chocolate dessert? Since the husband is allergic to chocolate pretty much any chocolate dessert is a big treat for me. I absolutely adore a nice moist chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream icing. Delicious.

February 12 | Unregistered CommenterKristen

1. Chocolate is always wonderful. Especially if it's given in a creative way.
2. I leave the orange filling and take all the dark chocolate or espresso.
3. Milk Chocolate deserves respect. It's not my favorite but it always provides a great creamy texture that never goes unappreciated.
4. Um, chocolate in everything equals luxury. If anyone says no to this, they don't really like chocolate.
5. Either. But the marshmallows have to be authentic, the bigger the better. And not the dried up ones that come in the packet. I like it with Mint Baileys as well.
6. I'm okay with the body products if it consists of natural chocolate. Why bother with the fake stuff?
7. Souffle. Period.

1) Chocolates are never a BAD idea for Valentine's day, especially if they're not drugstore-brand-russel-stover-oops-i-forgot-candy. A small bux of truffles on top of a gift is a delicious thing.

2) Not big on things with nuts or strange-tasting fruit creme type fillings. Have been known to put those back. It's FAMILY.

3) I LIKE milk chocolate if it's done well. A good milk chocolate truffle or caramel won't get turned away.

4) This is tricky. It's not my favorite.

5) I believe it was Calvin who explained to Hobbes that the way you make hot chocolate is to stuff the mug full of marshmallows first and then pour the hot chocolate in so it just fills the cracks. I agree.

6) Usually not too good. Sugary-fake-bad tasting.

7) I love a delish moist chocolate cake with a ridic thick frosting. A brownie with chocolate chunks is good too. And truffles. Oh, truffles.
