Despite having just spent an evening dipping rice crispy treats into chocolate and sprinkles, baking is definitely my favorite part. Decorating is just a perk.
I think it depends on the type of cake. I baked a Tres Leche cake for my husband's birthday and had never baked one like that before. I had a lot more fun baking it than I did decorating it. I can't wait to bake that cake again!
I love both, but I'd have to say the decorating is more fun. You can be just as creative (or uncreative) as you want to be. All sorts of designs and add ons like sprinkles. It's also fun to make a mess while trying to decorate!

I actually enjoy the decorating because it's the time I can personalize my creations for the people who will be eating them!!!
oh oh I want to be difficult and say my favorite part is choosing a recipe preferably with some unique ingredient I've never used before and then going to the grocery store because I have an unnatural obsession with compulsive food buying.
and then licking each and every spoon through and through once it's in the oven. mmmmm boy.
I enjoy the baking part. Especially when it's almost done baking and you can smell all those wonderful aromas coming out of the oven.

baking is very therapeutic for me...all the wonderful ingredients & working with my shiny orange mixer is fun...watching the cake rise thru the glass oven door is exciting!
i feel accomplishment when i remove the fragrant cake from the oven!

I'm not an especially adventurous decorator, so the actually baking is my favourite. I love gathering the ingredients, measuring things out, separating wet and dry ingredients and then whisking them all together. It's a beautiful thing!
I love baking, because it's fun to see (and smell!) the result of mixing many ingredients together to form one tasty treat!

The baking part hands down. It doesn't matter if my hands are shaky :) I love it so much, buying myself the KitchenAid stand mixer was the best money spent EVER. <3

The baking. I'm not very good at the decorating so I get all stressed about that part.
Baking is my favourite especially when u see the different coloured ingredients mix together into a goey mess, yet turning out to be such a beauty!
Eating the results has always been my favorite part but since we are only given two options I'll go with baking.

My favorite part of baking is when you give your goodie to someone and you see the happy look on their face and they are happy! I just love making people happy.
I definitely enjoy the baking part and it is very important to me that it tate really good- but the real pleasure for me is in the decorating- not that I am so great at it- I just love doing it!

Come on people! You know it's decorating. It's like putting the bow on a package or the whipped cream and sprinkles on a sundae. If you didn't decorate it, it would just be cake - the word cupcake itself means "CUTE" - definitely decorating!
