Cake Poll: Fall Treats!

October Cakespy Giveaway!

Sure, the days are getting shorter and cooler, but they're also getting sweeter. Halloween is just around the corner, a sweet kickoff to what promises to be a fall and winter full of pies, puddings and wonderful holiday treats.
And in celebration of all of this sweetness, this month's Cake Poll focuses on fall treats! The lucky winner will receive an original Cakespy watercolor depicting L'il Cuppie being chased by ghosts (pictured top)--looks like they didn't want to share their candy!

How do you enter? Just answer the below questions to be entered in the running! Responses may be entered in the comments section or emailed to jessieoleson@gmail.com.

  • Which do you prefer: candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins?
  • Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry?
  • Trick-or-treaters without costumes: give 'em candy anyway, or turn 'em away?
  • Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last?
  • Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate?
  • Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin?

The fine print: The poll will be closed at 12 p.m PST on Friday, October 17. As usual, the winner will be chosen at random. Entries from the US and beyond are welcome. Your info will never be shared and these questions are solely motivated by our nosy spy tendencies.

....and we have a winner! Our winner was JEAN from New Jersey! Jean entered in our comments section and most definitely prefers Candy Corn! While Mellowcreme Pumpkin may not approve, we were more than happy to see the piece of artwork go to such a sweet home!

1) Candy corn ALL THE WAY!!!!

2) Fun-size candy bars - Make me happy (probably b/c I actually eat more than just a regular size candy bar...rationalizing that they are smaller...therefore I can eat more).

3) Trick-or-treaters without costumes - Give 'em candy anyway...how can you withhold from any trick or treater...even a teen too cool for a costume.

4) Halloween candy-eating method- Eat it as fast as you can. You could get run over by a bus any given day...

5) Favorite cold-weather beverage - Hot chocolate (with a flavor shot...preferably toffee nut from Starbucks)

6) Pumpkin pie is my middle name every November!

Which do you prefer: candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins? Oh, candy corn, for sure! not to mention, I can't eat mellowcreme :'[

Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry? They allow me to stuff as many as I want in my face because they're smaller, therefore I can "indulge". Better for my figure? The smaller going in the smaller I'll be? Whatever WORKS FOR ME!

Trick-or-treaters without costumes: give 'em candy anyway, or turn 'em away?Quiz them to come up with an excuse on the spot. Give them candy according to how good their comeback is.

Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last?As fast as you can. It's not Halloween unless you have a raging stomach ache. Thanksgiving is up next, and I don't want to think about ghosts and goblins when there are dead turkeys on the mind.

Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate? Oh... Oh, that's a tough one. Um. Am I disqualified is I say I CAN'T CHOOSE!?

Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin?Apple, most definitely. I can't stand the texture of pumpkin pie.

Which do you prefer: candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins?
Lately ive had this HUGE obsession with candy corn, so probably candy corn. =]]
Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry?
happy, but what people seem to forget about them is that they feel better eating the smaller candy bars, so they eat like 4 minis, which is probably the equivolent to 2 regular sized ones.
Trick-or-treaters without costumes: give 'em candy anyway, or turn 'em away?
ohh just give it to them, its halloween for goodness sake!!
Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last?
I always think, the best thing about leftover halloween candy, is you can just get rid of it by baking!!
Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate?
hot chocolate, duhhh. =P
Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin?

1. I'm not a big fan of candy corn (I just love the way it looks), so I'll go with the mellowcreme pumpkins. I'm a depraved human being that has never tried them.
2. Fun-size candy is perfect. You can try as many different ones as your conscience will allow :)
3. No way, no costume no candy...unless they're little and cute :)
4. I actually end up sharing mine, so I would go into the "make it last" category.
5. Really? Chocolate of course.
6. Apple. I'm not a big fan of pumpkin....though it gets better if you add rum :)

October 12 | Unregistered CommenterAnna

-Candy corn
-Both...they leave me hungry, but there's usually more than one, which makes me happy.
-We've gotten 3 trick or treaters in the last six years, and they all had costumes...but I'd probably just give the non-costumed kids treats anyway.
-Ration, and also eat the crappy stuff first
-Apple cider
-Can I write in sweet potato? If not, then pumpkin.

My answers:

I prefer candy corn.

Fun size candy bars make me happy, especially when I eat five of them.

Everybody gets candy, costume or no costume (I don't want to them to egg my house).

I ration out my Halloween candy to make it last.

My favorite cold-weather beverage is hot chocolate.

It might be un-American but I prefer pumpkin pie.

Thanks for doing another great giveaway!

October 13 | Unregistered CommenterPatty

1. i'm seriously addicted to candy corn, so this one's easy.
2. they make me happy of course, assuming there are five of them for me to eat.
3. turn 'em away! the children must earn the goods!

1.) Candy Corn, hands down. Those marshmellow things aren't tasty :(

2.) Happy! If you don't eat that type of thing too often, a small serving goes a long way (but not on your tummy!)

3.) Definitely give them candy! Unless they're adults who haven't grown up yet...little kids always get the candy :)

4.) Ration!! When I was little, I used to have candy so long that my mom would have to toss it...

5.) Hot Apple Cider! Especially in the fall...

6.) I do like pumpkin, but Apple will always be my #1!

...What a good idea!!! :)
